Sheet Pile wall, Co. Down (2009)
Geoman Ltd. completed the design of a sheet pile retaining wall in a watercourse that retained a ‘Class A’ road in Co. Down.
A blockwork wall and its crest slope had failed, and the instability was threatening to affect the carriageway. A design for a replacement sheet pile wall had to be completed rapidly, while also considering the difficult access, traffic management and environmental issues.
Geoman Ltd. completed both the element design and application for Technical Approval by the adopting authority (Roads Service).
